Job summary

West Virginia Department of Education seeks an INSTRUCTIONAL BUS/MULTICATEGORICAL AIDE II (ITINERANT) to support students with special needs across multiple settings. The role includes assisting with daily living tasks, behavior management, and coordination with certified staff; training in CPR, First Aid, and related techniques is required.

You will work with developmentally disabled and medically fragile students, provide direct supervision, participate in intervention and health plans, and

Qualifications

• Administration of medication to students per WV code and policies.
• Lifting a minimum of 100 lbs vertically.
• Ability to work with adaptive equipment, prosthetic devices, and AAC.
• Participation in CPR, First Aid, Passive Restraint, and Behavior Management training.
• Experience with developmentally disabled, medically fragile, or orthopedically impaired students.
• Providing direct supervision and attending to personal care needs.
• Implementation of health care and behavior plans.
• Team teaching in a setting supervised by certified professionals.
• Knowledge of intervention techniques and safe lifting/positioning.
• Familiarity with Physical Intervention and Support Techniques.
• Job coach responsibilities with appropriate training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily living activities such as toileting and feeding as required.
• Support students with independence, mobility, and scheduling.
• Monitor behavior and implement approved interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers in planning.
• Maintain safety during classroom and bus activities.
