Job summary

Westfield Washington School District seeks an itinerant teacher to serve deaf and hard-of-hearing students. You will collaborate with general education staff, the HI team, and families to support IEP goals and student success.

The role requires Indiana licensure for Hearing Impairments, with experience preferred and knowledge of oral and sign language. You will work with interpreters, audiologists, and teachers to coordinate services and monitor student progress.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to provide services for students with Hearing Impairments in Indiana.
  • Knowledge of and expertise in various oral and sign language communication for HI students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-service training to general education teachers, administrators, and staff on HI needs.
  • Distribute and demonstrate proper use of FM systems and other assistive devices.
  • Supervise and train educational interpreters; observe and evaluate them twice yearly.
  • Attend HI teacher meetings monthly and HI team meetings bi-monthly.
  • Coordinate HI services with building staff and administrators to address student needs.
  • Collaborate with school psychologists and speech pathologists for evaluations and eligibility decisions.
  • Communicate with parents and external audiologists to support student goals.
  • Develop and report annual goals and adaptations for HI students.
