Job summary

La Strada Italian Kitchen & Bar is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. You will closely collaborate with the Chef/Owner to maintain high food quality, consistency, presentation, and kitchen efficiency.

You will lead a team, ensure recipes and plating standards are followed, and contribute to a positive, professional kitchen environment while upholding safety and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a leadership kitchen role (Sous Chef or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of professional cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Experience with Italian cuisine is a must.
• Ability to lead a team and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef/Owner with daily kitchen operations and food preparation.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and plating specifications.
• Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Help organize and coordinate kitchen stations before, during, and after service.
• Train, guide, and support cooks and other kitchen employees.
• Monitor food preparation, cooking times, and ticket flow during busy services.
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and inventory procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with the Chef, kitchen staff, servers, and management.
• Help maintain a positive, professional, and respectful kitchen environment.
