Job Summary

The Carolinas East Telecom Delivery team is seeking a technical professional to design and document reliable AC and DC power solutions for critical telecommunications infrastructure.

The role provides engineering support during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting by answering technical questions, clarifying design requirements, and resolving design‑related issues with Field Services and other implementation teams.

The position supports telecom equipment installed at sites that include, but are not limited to, generation and transmission facilities, control buildings, shelters, towers, data centers, substations, and other industrial or reliability‑focused locations.

The role is focused on the telecom power systems serving that equipment, rather than the broader electrical systems of the host facility.

The position may be filled at the IT Telecom Analyst or Senior IT Telecom Analyst level based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Relevant experience may come from professional employment, military service, internships, technical programs, laboratory work, or other applied technical experience. Prior telecommunications power experience is preferred but is not required for all candidates.

The successful candidate will be a self‑starter who balances engineering rigor with practical delivery, works effectively with small cross‑functional teams, communicates clearly, and demonstrates commitment to safety, reliability, documentation quality, continuous learning, and accountable ownership.

Responsibilities
  • Design and document AC and DC power solutions, including 240/120 VAC, 48 VDC, UPS systems, DC plants, batteries, rectifiers, chargers, inverters, backup generation, power distribution, grounding, bonding, environmental monitoring, alarm monitoring, and remote power‑system monitoring.
  • Assess site conditions and requirements; perform load, battery capacity and runtime, voltage‑drop, conductor, equipment, breaker, and fuse‑sizing calculations.
  • Select and specify equipment and materials, and develop work packages, material lists, one‑line diagrams, drawings, layouts, power and alarm requirements, installation guidance, commissioning requirements, and as‑built records.
  • Perform site assessments, participate in design reviews and equipment evaluations, and provide engineering support to Field Services during installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Answer technical questions, clarify design intent, evaluate field conditions that differ from the approved design, and recommend practical resolution of design‑related or installation issues. Field Services and other implementation teams retain responsibility for installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Review designs and technical documentation for engineering accuracy and compliance with applicable company standards, safety requirements, and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with Field Services, construction, maintenance, operations, project management, vendors, contractors, and other technical teams.
  • Identify and communicate safety, design, implementation, equipment, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle risks associated with telecom power solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to improved engineering standards, documentation, training, and delivery practices.
Basic/Required Qualifications

Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

  • IT Telecom Analyst
Associates degree Minimum two (2) years relevant work experience.
In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 2 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 5 year(s) related work experience.
  • Senior IT Telecom Analyst
Associates degree Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience.
In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 5 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 7 year(s) related work experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
  • Direct experience with telecommunications power systems, including 240/120 VAC, 48 VDC, UPS and DC plants, batteries, rectifiers, chargers, inverters, distribution, monitoring, and backup generation.
  • Both levels require relevant technical experience and the ability to apply electrical fundamentals to power-system design, documentation, or engineering support. The level offered will reflect the candidate’s depth of experience, assignment complexity, independence, and demonstrated technical judgment.
  • Experience with Eltek, Vertiv, Powerware, Delta, or similar telecommunications power platforms.
  • Relevant technical experience involving electrical power systems or power-supported infrastructure in telecommunications, utilities, substations, industrial facilities, data centers, controls, military systems, critical facilities, installation, maintenance, or engineering support.
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems and experience with one or more related technologies such as UPS systems, batteries, rectifiers, chargers, inverters, power distribution, grounding, monitoring, or backup power.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one‑line diagrams, equipment specifications, installation documents, equipment lists, and site information.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles and calculations to electrical or power-system problems.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and grounding and bonding principles, with the ability to learn and apply applicable company standards and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written and oral communication, collaboration, planning, prioritization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, recognize when technical guidance or review is needed, and coordinate effectively with engineering, field, operations, project, vendor, and contractor teams.
