This position is seeking an experienced and technically strong Lead Engineer to join the Grid Strategy & Advancement Engineering Application team. The team owns the Technical Interconnection Requirements for Large Load (TIRLL), including ongoing implementation and updates, and is developing Duke Energy's Computational Load Commissioning Process in response to the direction from NERC. This role will provide technical leadership for complex and evolving large-load integration challenges, including technical analysis, requirements and process development, commissioning, regulatory and industry engagement, customer facility evaluation, and cross-functional engineering execution. The Lead Engineer is at the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work, and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. The Lead Engineer serves in lead roles providing guidance to others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently.
Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way. Employees are expected to report to their assigned Duke Energy facility as required and directed by their manager, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek.
