Job Description
IT Technician
Full-Time (12-month), Non-Exempt, Category 4
Salary Range: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
On-Site Job Only - Not a Remote Position
Reports To: Director of Information Technology
The IT Technician provides frontline technical support and exceptional customer service to faculty, staff, and students. Working in a large, fast-paced educational environment, this role is responsible for supporting hardware, software, network services, classroom technology, and end-user devices. The IT Technician collaborates with other IT team members to ensure reliable, secure, and effective technology operations that support the mission and daily activities of Oaks Christian School.
User Support
- Serve as an active and collaborative member of the Information Technology Department.
- Provide timely and professional technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and application issues.
- Support Windows and macOS operating systems and related software applications.
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and support desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and other technology devices.
- Support Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and other enterprise applications.
Classroom & Technology Services
- Support classroom technology, audio/visual equipment, projectors, displays, and collaboration tools.
- Assist with setup and support of special events, presentations, and technology-enabled activities.
- Support wireless and wired network connectivity for end users and devices.
Account & Asset Management
- Perform user account administration, including onboarding, offboarding, password resets, and access requests.
- Maintain accurate records of technology assets, inventory, and equipment assignments.
- Assist in device lifecycle management, including deployment, replacement, and disposal processes.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers regarding repairs, warranty claims, and equipment replacements.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Escalate complex issues to senior technical staff when appropriate.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Apple, or similar certifications are desirable.
Experience
- Experience in a help desk, desktop support, or technical support role preferred.
- Experience supporting end users in a professional, educational, or enterprise environment.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace environments preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and basic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with endpoint management, device deployment, and asset tracking.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues effectively.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and user security awareness.

Physical & Operational Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to work in classrooms, offices, server rooms, and other technical environments.
- Participation in an on-call rotation and availability for emergency support when required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary for maintenance windows or critical projects.
