Job summary

Riverton City in Riverton, Utah seeks an IT Technician to staff the help desk, provide timely support to City staff by phone, in person, and by email, and install and maintain IT equipment.

Under the IT Manager, you will support daily IT projects and manage Audio/Visual systems, create AD users, and handle ERP permissions, with a high school diploma and 1+ years of troubleshooting experience preferred; a technical associate degree and Utah driver’s license are also expected.

Grade 10 $24.17 - $37.02 hourly (salary will be dependent upon education and experience)

General Description

Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Technician is responsible for staffing the IT help desk in Riverton City and providing excellent customer service to City staff over the phone, in person, and by email in a timely manner. The main responsibilities include installation and maintenance of IT equipment, including PC's, iPads, thin clients, printers, and other end‑user devices. The IT Technician will support daily IT projects and activities as directed and manage the Audio/Visual systems of the city.

Examples of Duties

• Responsible for troubleshooting and responding to requests for IT assistance from City staff over the phone, in person, and by email in a timely manner.
• Installation and maintenance of IT equipment, including PC's, iPads, thin clients, printers and other end‑user devices.
• Responsible for the RMA and repair process for all devices under warranty.
• Provide support for daily IT projects and activities.
• Manage the Audio/Visual systems of the city, including working with designated vendors as needed.
• Work with IT Manager to develop solutions and enhance efficiencies.
• Perform audits on equipment.
• Create users and permissions in Active Directory.
• Manage the users and permissions of the ERP system for each department.
• Other responsibilities, as assigned.
• Any other responsibilities that would be required to maintain effective operations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree, with a technical major, such as computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field, is preferred. Equivalent experience is acceptable in lieu of a formal degree.
• 1+ years' experience in computer troubleshooting is required.
• Current Utah Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Must pass a background check.

Special Requirements

Successful candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen, a background and driving record check, and a Human Performance Evaluation, be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and provide employment verification (I‑9). This position has a six‑month probation period.
