Job summary

DC Government seeks an experienced IT Systems Manager in Washington, DC to lead the Office of Unified Communications' server infrastructure, patch management, and security posture. You will supervise IT staff, coordinate with public safety partners, and ensure mission-critical systems operate securely and efficiently.

The role focuses on enterprise-wide IT leadership, risk mitigation, and reliable service delivery for 911 and 311 operations, with opportunities to influence policy and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or equivalent.
• Specialized experience demonstrates the four core competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving.

Responsibilities

• Manages enterprise IT systems that support 911 and 311 operations, ensuring security, reliability, and compliance with District and federal standards.
• Directs deployment and maintenance of servers, storage, networking, endpoints, and other IT assets; resolves issues impacting availability.
• Leads patch deployment and vulnerability remediation; implements backup solutions and tests data recovery across infrastructure.
• Develops standard operating procedures, system documentation and training materials; ensures change management procedures are followed.
• Collaborates with executive leadership and public safety stakeholders to align IT with organizational goals and budgeting.
