SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Install andmaintain computer hardware, software, and networking technologies by performingthe following duties.
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Director of IT
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Note:All responsibilities listed apply to both “in house” and “motor vessel”systems.
- Verify serverfunctionality,identitypotentialissues,andworkoutsolutions.
- Manageallservers including:File servers,Active Directory,including D&HCP andHandDS,Download mintation,GPO managementandimplementation,Printingservices,Citrix CloudandPremier services administration,Office365 online administrationand support,Anti-Virus administration,SAP on premise.
- ReviewallsiteFirewallaccesses.
- Reviewallsiteto-siteconnectivityandanomalies.
- Networkequipmentmaintenanceincluding monitoringandtroubleshootingisesues.
- SIP phone system server administration.
- Troubleshootandrepairphoneswithswitches,servers,SBCs,telephones,andoverheadPA.
- Managecallroutingincludingworkinggroupandmenutree configuration.
- Maintain all information technology systems to ensureoptimal access.
- Review all Server synchronizations and backups.
- Work help desk including answering the phones andworking tickets.
- Communication with vendors regarding support andprojects.
- Project Management.
- Be familiar with andtroubleshoot allhardware, software and network operating systems.
- Ensure technology is accessible and equipped withcurrent hardware and software.
- Create new user system accounts.
- Provide orientation to new users.
- Train staff in the potential uses of new and existingtechnology.
- Provide individual training and support on request.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory of technologyhardware, software and resources.
- Create and maintain help desk tickets for requiredrepairs and maintenance.
- Install workstation, connect, and set up hardware andload all required software.
- Maintain security of all technology.
- Identify, strip, and prepare hardware for disposalwhen appropriate.
- Work on projects in support of both in-house andvessel IT systems.
- Organize and execute training sessions fornon-department employees.
- Assist in the support of the Help Desk to ensureoperational continuity of user and vessel systems.
- Perform other related duties as required duringworking hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to read, write andspeak clearly in the English language.
- Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) isrequired.
- High school diploma.
- 3-5 years of working experience within IT Departmentsupport.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft workstation operatingsystems.
- Experience assisting users with Microsoft applicationssuch as MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Internet Explorer.
- Active certification and experience in at least 2 ofthe following products. M.S.Server, VMware Server, SQL Server & Citrix Server.
- Hands on experience with LAN/WANtechnologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, hardware &software troubleshooting skills and use of remote management systems.
- Courteous and professional always, especially understress.
- Well organized and detail driven with stronginterpersonal skills and initiative.
- Reliable and responsible, able to respond quickly tosupport calls, on weeknights or weekends.
- Ability to work in team environment.
- Aptitude and desire for new knowledge.
- Ability to read, comprehend and learn.
- Ability to solve problems, teach others and makedecisions on a daily basis.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professionaljournals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions topractical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and business-relatedmeetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor VehicleHistory check and possess and maintain a current valid driver's license intheir state of residence. Travel to vessels and extended out of town trips willbe required.
