Job summary

Blessey Marine in Elmwood, LA is seeking an experienced IT Administrator to install and maintain computer hardware, software, and networking technologies across in-house and vessel systems. The role reports to the Director of IT and requires 3-5 years of IT support, strong Microsoft experience (AD, Office 365), and the ability to work under stress, with TWIC card requirement.

You will manage servers, review firewall accesses, supervise help desk tasks, and collaborate with vendors on projects,

Qualifications

  • Must read, write and speak clearly in English.
  • TWIC is required.
  • High school diploma.
  • 3-5 years IT department support experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft workstation operating systems.
  • Experience with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc).
  • Certifications in at least two of MS Server, VMware, SQL Server, Citrix Server.
  • Hands-on with LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Verify server functionality and identify potential issues.
  • Manage all servers including file servers and Active Directory, GPO, printing services, and more.
  • Review firewall accesses.
  • Review site-to-site connectivity and anomalies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot network equipment.
  • Administer SIP phone system servers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair phones, switches, SBCs, and related gear.
  • Configure call routing and group/menu trees.
  • Maintain IT systems for optimal access.
  • Review server synchronizations and backups.
  • Assist Help Desk and handle tickets.
  • Communicate with vendors on support and projects.
  • Project management.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and OS; ensure current hardware/software.
  • Create new user accounts and provide orientation.
  • Train staff on new and existing technology.
  • Maintain inventory of tech hardware, software and resources.
  • Create and maintain help desk tickets for repairs.
  • Install workstations and load required software.
  • Maintain security of all technology.
  • Prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate.
  • Support vessel IT systems and in-house IT projects.
  • Organize training sessions for non-department staff.
  • Assist Help Desk to ensure operational continuity.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Install andmaintain computer hardware, software, and networking technologies by performingthe following duties.

SUPERVISION:

Reports to: Director of IT

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Note:All responsibilities listed apply to both “in house” and “motor vessel”systems.

  • Verify serverfunctionality,identitypotentialissues,andworkoutsolutions.
  • Manageallservers including:File servers,Active Directory,including D&HCP andHandDS,Download mintation,GPO managementandimplementation,Printingservices,Citrix CloudandPremier services administration,Office365 online administrationand support,Anti-Virus administration,SAP on premise.
  • ReviewallsiteFirewallaccesses.
  • Reviewallsiteto-siteconnectivityandanomalies.
  • Networkequipmentmaintenanceincluding monitoringandtroubleshootingisesues.
  • SIP phone system server administration.
  • Troubleshootandrepairphoneswithswitches,servers,SBCs,telephones,andoverheadPA.
  • Managecallroutingincludingworkinggroupandmenutree configuration.

  • Maintain security of all technology.
  • Identify, strip, and prepare hardware for disposalwhen appropriate.
  • Work on projects in support of both in-house andvessel IT systems.
  • Organize and execute training sessions fornon-department employees.
  • Assist in the support of the Help Desk to ensureoperational continuity of user and vessel systems.
  • Perform other related duties as required duringworking hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be able to read, write andspeak clearly in the English language.
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) isrequired.
  • High school diploma.
  • 3-5 years of working experience within IT Departmentsupport.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft workstation operatingsystems.
  • Experience assisting users with Microsoft applicationssuch as MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel & Internet Explorer.
  • Active certification and experience in at least 2 ofthe following products. M.S.Server, VMware Server, SQL Server & Citrix Server.
  • Hands on experience with LAN/WANtechnologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, hardware &software troubleshooting skills and use of remote management systems.
  • Courteous and professional always, especially understress.
  • Well organized and detail driven with stronginterpersonal skills and initiative.
  • Reliable and responsible, able to respond quickly tosupport calls, on weeknights or weekends.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Aptitude and desire for new knowledge.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and learn.
  • Ability to solve problems, teach others and makedecisions on a daily basis.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Abilityto read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professionaljournals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions topractical situations.

Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and business-relatedmeetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor VehicleHistory check and possess and maintain a current valid driver's license intheir state of residence. Travel to vessels and extended out of town trips willbe required.
