Job summary

Elgin Community College seeks a highly skilled Technology Services professional to coordinate internal and external tech projects, lead computer replacement initiatives, and mentor staff. You will develop deployment standards, automation, and API integrations across campus systems.

The role focuses on enterprise device management, ITSM, and data-driven improvements, aligning with the college’s strategic technology goals. Strong communication and documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a minimum of 6 years of experience developing, implementing, maintaining and supporting solutions in a networked environment.
• Certifications such as PMP (PMI Institute), ITIL/ITSM required or completed within first year in position; A+, Network+ are preferred.
• Excels in leadership and project management skills necessary to coordinate large scale departmental projects with senior leadership.
• Strong ability to analyze and map processes to find opportunities for improvement; engineer technical solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of helpdesk ticketing systems and the ITSM framework.
• Expert knowledge of APIs and writing custom solutions to streamline departmental systems.
• Expert knowledge in programming/scripting languages and automation concepts.
• Expert knowledge integrating and administering hardware/software using SCCM, Jamf Pro, Google Workspace.
• Expert knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network security principles.
• Extensive knowledge of A/V systems and automation used during client presentations.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to create training materials.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal and external technology projects for the Technology Services department.
• Lead annual computer replacement initiatives, technology deployments, and major system projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring for technical support staff.
• Develop deployment standards, OS images, and automated installation processes.
• Design and maintain automated workflows and API integrations.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge resources.
