Job summary

Phase2 Technology is seeking a Mid IT Systems Administrator to join their team in San Diego, CA. The role involves improving technology for the U.S. Navy and requires a strong background in VMware, Windows Server, and Active Directory.

The ideal candidate has over three years of experience along with a Bachelor's in IT or Computer Science. Responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure, managing critical networks, and ensuring operational performance. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience managing user objects within Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols management.
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT2 certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure infrastructure is functional and available at all times.
  • Monitor and manage performance and issues in a mission-critical network.
  • Use metrics to identify and communicate information effectively.

Overview

Your combination of people skills and system administrator knowledge makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. What if you could use those skills to improve the technology supporting the U.S. Navy? We're looking for a system administrator with a background in VMware, Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Network Attached Storage, and Amazon Web Services to help us build next‑gen software for the U.S. military.

As a system administrator on our team, you'll ensure the current infrastructure is functional and available, constantly look for ways to make the infrastructure better using the latest technology and best implementation strategies, update, and patch critical systems. You'll help clients overcome tough challenges through monitoring and performance management, identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement in a mission‑critical network, and turn metrics into information you can communicate effectively.

This role provides exposure to Cisco Networking, Network encryption, F5, Virtualization, VMware Horizon, Windows Server, Windows 10, Windows Active Directory, Linux, and more. We focus on growing as a team, sharing techniques and developing new methodologies together. Work with us to resolve daily challenges while supporting warfighter communications.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and managing Microsoft Windows Server solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience managing user and computer objects within Active Directory.
  • Experience with supported services, managed procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience designing, implementing Windows or Linux server operating systems, and supporting software and services in both physical and VMware environments.
  • Knowledge of managing and configuring storage protocols including iSCSI, SAN, and NAS.
  • Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT2 certification within 30 days of hire.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with networking, including Cisco switches and firewall, and network encryption such as TACLANE.
  • Experience with F5 networking software, including Big iP.
  • Experience with virtualization, including VMware vSphere.
  • Experience with VMware Horizon (VDI).
  • Experience with network storage devices, including SAN and NAS.
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory.
  • Experience with Linux, including Red Hat.
  • Experience with web server management, including Apache and basic HTML.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment, including Tenable Nessus and ACAS.
Security Clearance

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary is determined by location, education, skills, experience, contract‑specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
