Job summary

Tin Can is seeking an IT & Systems Administrator to own internal IT end-to-end from day one. You’ll build the foundation, provisioning, security, and ongoing day-to-day operations as our first dedicated IT hire.

You’ll manage SSO, device management, Google Workspace, and access controls at scale, while maintaining security mindshare and user-friendly processes. Seattle-based, in-office four+ days weekly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT at technology companies, ideally including early-stage startups and scale-ups.
• Hands-on experience rolling out MDM and SSO from scratch; fleet enrollment and policy work.
• Deep Google Workspace admin experience with macOS and Windows support.
• Practical security mindset for protecting ~35 to 100+ users and prioritizing risks.
• Fluency using AI as a troubleshooting, scripting, and documentation multiplier.
• Clear, patient communicator able to explain fixes to non-technical teammates.
• Low-ego, collaborative, individual contributor mindset; prefer building systems end-to-end.
• Based in Seattle and able to work from the office 4+ days per week; not remote.

Responsibilities

• Select and implement SSO, bring apps behind it, and enforce MFA everywhere it belongs.
• Stand up device management across Mac and Windows — enrollment, encryption, patching, inventory.
• Administer Google Workspace — users, groups, sharing policies, security settings; source of truth for access.
• Build an access model with role-based permissions and regular access reviews.
• Own onboarding so every new hire has a working laptop and access before standup.
• Make offboarding airtight: revoke access, recover devices, and hand off files.
• Be the IT helpdesk for Tin Can — access, hardware, accounts, and day-to-day issues.
• Own IT aspects of office moves and build-outs — workstations, A/V, wireless access.
• Write runbooks and self-serve docs; report on provisioning time and risks.
