Job summary

Soarin Group in Dunedin, FL is seeking a skilled IT Systems Administrator to support our clients and internal systems in a fast-paced, on-site environment. You will install, configure and maintain servers, manage networks (LAN/WAN), perform backups, monitor systems, and contribute to security and patch management initiatives.

This role emphasizes strong customer service, clear communication, and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and supporting applications.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
  • Past work experience in a high-traffic customer service setting.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem solving and research skills.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of a wide range of applications and services.
  • Awareness of changes affecting team members and customers.
  • Must obtain A+, Network+, Security+ within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Research and implement automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, backups, and verify integrity of resources and processes.
  • Perform regular security monitoring and backups.
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
  • Provide support per request from clients.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures; coordinate with clients.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades; configure/add new services as needed.
  • Upgrade system software supporting infrastructure applications.
  • Maintain procedures and perform capacity planning reporting.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning and hardware upgrades as required.
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.

What we are looking for in a Systems Administrator:
  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role

What our Systems Administrators do:
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusion
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
  • Provide support per request from various clients
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted clients
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications per project or operational needs
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
  • Participate in on-call rotation
