Job summary

Soarin Group is seeking an on-site Systems Administrator in Lincoln, NE to support servers, networks, and security. Candidates should have experience in systems and network administration, patch management, and customer-focused support.

Certifications (A+, Network+, Security+) should be pursued within 1 year of hire. The role emphasizes strong communication with clients and coworkers, high-traffic customer service experience, and willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Systems Administrator, Network Admin, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networks and patch management.
  • Understanding of system security and data backup/recovery.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and related apps.
  • Familiarity with multiple operating systems and platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Install and rebuild servers; configure hardware, services, and storage per standards.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Maintain system standards and automate tasks where possible.
  • Monitor system health, backups, logs, and job completion.
  • Perform security monitoring and intrusion detection checks.
  • Handle daily backups and off-site media rotation as needed.
  • Create, modify, and delete user accounts per requests.
  • Provide client-facing support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Coordinate repair/recovery after hardware or software failures.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades; configure/manage services.

What we are looking for in a Systems Administrator:


  • Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management

  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recover

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and supporting applications

  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms

  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all clients and coworkers

  • Past work experience in a high-traffic customer service setting

  • Excellent phone etiquette

  • Excellent customer service skills that exceed customers’ expectations

  • Strong problem solving and research skills

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a working knowledge of a wide range of applications and services

  • Continual awareness of changes that directly affect other team members and customers

  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain A+, Network +, and Security + certifications within 1 year of employment.


What our Systems Administrators do:


  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements

  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures

  • Contribute to and maintain system standards

  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups

  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusion

  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary

  • Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary

  • Create, change, and delete user accounts per request

  • Provide support per request from various clients

  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted clients

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary

  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications per project or operational needs

  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment

  • Participate in on-call rotation
