Job description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Plant IT Systems Administrator to provide onsite IT support for our manufacturing facility in Ridgeville, South Carolina. This individual will serve as the primary onsite IT resource for the facility and will work closely with our corporate/global IT team located in India.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment capable of troubleshooting and resolving a broad range of hardware, software, network, telecommunications, and end-user technology issues. This position requires someone who is proactive, responsive, customer-service focused, and able to take ownership of IT issues from identification through resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary onsite IT support resource for the manufacturing facility.
  • Provide technical support to employees, supervisors, managers, and executives.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and replace desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, email, Teams, and other business applications.
  • Support user account setup, password resets, permissions, and access-related issues in coordination with corporate IT.
  • Assist with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration as authorized.
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, switches, network connectivity, and internet-related issues.
  • Provide support for conference rooms, Teams meetings, audiovisual equipment, and other communication technologies.
  • Support plant printers, label printers, scanners, shared workstations, and other technology used in manufacturing operations.
  • Provide basic support for plant-floor technology and coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and external vendors when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot telephone, mobile phone, and other communication system issues.
  • Coordinate and elevate complex technical issues to the corporate IT team in India while maintaining ownership of the issue through resolution.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including computer setup, system access, equipment deployment, and equipment recovery.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, network equipment, software licenses, and other IT assets.
  • Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, antivirus/endpoint protection, system updates, patching, and other security requirements.
  • Monitor IT equipment and systems and proactively identify potential issues before they disrupt plant operations.
  • Coordinate with third-party IT vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Document recurring problems, troubleshooting procedures, equipment configurations, and IT processes.
  • Assist with IT projects, equipment upgrades, system implementations, and technology improvements.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for critical plant IT issues when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred; equivalent technical experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure experience.
  • Previous experience supporting a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or 24/7 operating environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop environments and Microsoft 365.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, user administration, permissions, and Group Policy.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and computer deployment skills.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, switches, wireless networks, and VPNs.
  • Experience troubleshooting printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and conference room technology.
  • Experience with IT asset management and inventory control.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or plant-floor systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical employees.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with remote/global IT teams.
  • Must be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of onsite IT operations.
