Phoenix Defense in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an IT Systems Specialist to support internal and remote users, contractors and MSP customers. This temporary role reports to the IT Manager and emphasizes hands-on problem solving, timely communication, and professional interaction across departments and leadership levels.

You will perform helpdesk tasks, install servers, configure workstations, manage Active Directory, set up VOIP phones, handle inventory, and contribute to process documentation while

  • Equivalent education with a focus on IT support and security fundamentals.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification or active progress toward it within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; customer-focused service orientation.

Responsabilités

  • Provide helpdesk support to end users via tickets and verbal requests.
  • Install servers and UPS units into racks and configure workstations.
  • Configure or repair laptops and desktops; maintain network performance.
  • Support and troubleshoot operating systems and applications.
  • Back up data, swap hardware like hard drives, and set up new workstations.
  • Prepare requisitions and order equipment; track inventory.
  • Manage Active Directory passwords, user additions/updates, and security.
  • Configure VOIP phones; document processes and share knowledge.
  • Learn from senior Systems Admins and communicate status to customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

This is a temporary position with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on business needs and performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The IT Systems Specialist reports to the IT Manager and is technically skilled with good problem-solving abilities. This is a hands-on role supporting internal, remote employees, contractors and Managed Services customers. IT Systems Specialists are expected to display good interpersonal skills, professionalism and timeliness as they will interact with colleagues from various departments and executive levels supporting helpdesk tasks. This role requires the ability to listen to internal customer technical needs, understand their problems and implement solutions to them.

  • Supporting end users via requests (tickets and verbal)
  • Running new cables
  • Installing servers and UPS's into racks
  • Configuring or repairing new laptops and desktops; maintaining workstations and network performance
  • Support, install or troubleshoot operating systems and applications
  • Backing up Installing data
  • Swapping out hardware such as hard drives
  • Perform research, other troubleshooting
  • Setting up new employee workstations
  • Preparing purchase requisitions and ordering new equipment and parts
  • Keeping track of inventory
  • Active Directory password resets, additions/updates, facility security
  • Configuring VOIP phones
  • Process documentation
  • Knowledge sharing/process overview with colleagues
  • Follow through skills; communicate status to customers
  • Ability to learn from senior level Systems Admins
  • Other related duties and tasks assigned
ABOUT YOU:
  • HS Diploma/GED or Associates degree
  • (Level I) 1-2+ years' experience in computer hardware repair and helpdesk support. Attained or working towards CompTIA Security+ certificate. Must obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • (Level II) 3+ years' experience/ Possess CompTIA Security+ Cert or attain within 6 months of
  • Knowledge of Apple and Windows machines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in software installation.
  • Attention to detail; organizational skills
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service skills; strong interpersonal skills.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
  • Knowledge of operating systems, circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the job role.
