Job summary

Harrington Starr in Times Square, NYC is seeking a W2 Contract Application Support Analyst to join our office-based team in Times Square. You will work directly with the trading team, providing real-time support across trading desks during the move to a 23/5 US market trading hours.

The role requires hands-on experience in capital markets and trading applications, strong SQL and Linux skills, and the ability to perform root cause analysis in a fast-paced, production environment.

W2 Contract | Application Support Analyst

Times Square, NYC (Office-Based)

Hourly Rate DOE

Working directly with the trading team, you'll be part of a follow-the-sun support model supporting the move towards 23/5 US market trading hours. You'll provide real-time application support across trading desks in New York, while partnering closely with overnight teams covering Asia and London.

Key Requirements:

• Application support experience within capital markets or trading environments
• Experience supporting front office users and trading applications
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, business-critical environment
• Mandarin language skills are a bonus, but not essential
• Previous experience within capital markets, electronic trading, or financial services

Technical Requirements:

• Experience providing Level 2/3 application support for trading, market data, or order management platforms.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to analyse data, investigate issues, and support production environments.
• Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting experience, including log analysis and process monitoring.
• Knowledge of FIX Protocol and electronic trading workflows.
• Experience supporting OMS, EMS, market data, and exchange connectivity platforms.
• Understanding of trade lifecycle processes across equities, futures, options, FX, or multi-asset products.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and work closely with development teams to implement permanent fixes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to scripting and automation using Python, Shell, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Understanding of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, connectivity troubleshooting, and message flow analysis.
• Experience supporting highly available, low-latency, mission-critical production environments.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, containerisation, or modern infrastructure tooling would be advantageous.
