Job summary

The City of Brenham is seeking an IT Technician to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across the City’s IT systems. You will install, maintain, and repair PCs, peripherals, networking gear, and cabling, ensuring reliable operations for end users.

Starting pay is $21.19 per hour for qualified applicants with 3 years of related experience, with potential for higher pay based on qualifications and experience. This is a non-supervisory, on-site role reporting to the IT Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 3+ years as IT Technician, or equivalent.
• Certifications in A+/Network+ and MCITP preferred.
• Experience with Windows operating systems and Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by responding to users and ensuring functionality of systems.
• Analyze and diagnose PC and network problems reported by end users.
• Answer help-desk line and assist users remotely or in person.
• Maintain detailed ticket notes in IT ticketing system.
• Install/repair computer equipment and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot surveillance cameras and network equipment.
• Create and manage PC operating system images.
• Install and troubleshoot software on PCs.
• Coordinate with hardware vendors to resolve issues.
• Maintain desktop UPS and related monitoring software.
• Install and terminate network cables and jacks.
• Update asset management database.
