Job summary

AMVAC seeks an IT Support Specialist for its Commerce, California facility to deliver advanced technical support to end users and maintain workplace technology reliability. This on-site role covers desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and reporting tools across the organization and supports remote employees as needed.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in IT support, strong Windows/macOS/Microsoft 365 skills, and experience with ITSM tools, Intune, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of IT support experience with desktop support or service desk
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in IT or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS, Microsoft 365
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Experience with Intune and identity/access management
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira, Zendesk, Entra)
  • Excel, Power BI, and business reporting tools
  • Experience supporting ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics)
  • Willingness to respond to urgent incidents to maintain systems operation
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
  • Strong ownership and accountability
  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and performance issues
  • Troubleshoot LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and network‑connected devices including printers
  • Coordinate configuration of network devices with infrastructure teams
  • Act as local IT point of contact during outages
  • Assist ERP/data teams with reporting or data access issues
  • Troubleshoot and support QAD users and business operations issues
  • Serve as escalation point for complex incidents
  • Ensure SLA-based resolution of incidents via ticketing system
  • Perform root cause analysis and propose permanent solutions
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and KB articles
  • Manage Active Directory and 365 user accounts/groups/permissions
  • Lead onboarding/offboarding IT on-site activities
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle management
  • Support audit, SOX, IT policy compliance
  • Role is ~60% customer support and ~40% IT support onsite/remote

AMVAC has a new opportunity for an IT Support Specialist at the Commerce, California (R&D Center) who will be responsible for providing advanced technical support to end users and maintaining the reliability of workplace technology. This role supports desktops, laptops, mobile devices, office connectivity, and reporting tools to ensure consistent system performance across the organization for the administrative and manufacturing role at Axis as well as provide support for other locations and some remote employees.

The position also serves as an escalation point for complex technical issues and collaborates closely with regional and global IT teams to maintain high service levels and operational excellence. This role is on-site - 5 days a week (Monday / Friday) with occasional nights / weekends.

Skills, Knowledge, And Ability Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in IT support, desktop support, or service desk roles
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Advanced experience supporting end-user hardware and peripherals
  • Strong knowledge of WindowsOS, macOS, and Microsoft 365
  • Intermediate networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
  • Experience with Intune and identity / access management
  • Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira, Zendesk, Entra)
  • Excel, Power BI, and business reporting tools
  • Experience supporting ERP or business systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics)
  • Willingness and availability to respond in exceptional cases of urgency to assure the systems operation
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under pressure
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation, or similar a plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support and installation for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and peripherals
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS operating systems
  • Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and performance issues
  • Troubleshoot office LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and network‑connected devices, including printers
  • Support and coordinate configuration of network devices (switches, access points, firewalls) in collaboration with infrastructure teams
  • Serve as the local IT point of contact during network outages or connectivity incidents
  • Work with application, ERP, and data teams to resolve reporting or data access issues
  • Provide support to employees and QAD users to troubleshoot and resolve system issues impacting business operations in a timely manner
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex incidents and recurring issues
  • Ensure incidents and service requests are resolved within defined service levels (SLA’s) using the IT ticketing system
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend permanent solutions
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Manage Active Directory and Microsoft 365 user accounts, groups, and permissions; access support
  • Lead onboarding and offboarding IT on-site activities
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and lifecycle management
  • Support audit, compliance, and internal control activities (SOX, IT policies)
  • This position is (typically) 60% Customer Support and 40% IT Support – onsite & remote
