Birmingham City University is seeking an IT Support Analyst to join the IT Asset Management and Configuration team in Parkside. The role focuses on the full asset lifecycle—from receiving and tagging through configuration, deployment, imaging and secure disposal.
You will ensure devices are ready when customers need them and manage service requests within SLAs. The role involves hands-on work, a strong customer-service ethos, and collaboration with wider IT teams.
Please note: this opportunity is only available to current employees of the University
Location: Parkside. Salary: £35,331 to £39,002 per annum. Shift allowance: 5%. Contract: Full Time.
At Birmingham City University, we are a diverse and inclusive learning community of over 31,400 students from more than 120 countries. We aim to become an exemplar anchor institution, creating and sharing knowledge for a better and more inclusive society. We are committed to providing a transformational educational experience, supporting world‑class research, and fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment for our staff.
Recognised as one of the UK’s Top 250 employers (Financial Times & Statista), we pride ourselves on being a place where colleagues feel valued, supported, and able to grow their careers while contributing to the success of our students and communities.
Our student demographic reflects the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of Birmingham itself, with a significant proportion of students from minoritised ethnic backgrounds and the majority of our home students coming from the West Midlands. This diversity is a strength, and it calls for a workforce that is equipped to challenge deficit narratives and thinking — those assumptions that position students from underrepresented groups as lacking rather than recognising their assets, strengths and potential.
By embracing this perspective, we aim to create an environment where all students and colleagues can thrive, and where our work contributes positively to the social, cultural and economic life of Birmingham and beyond.
We are seeking an IT Support Analyst to join our IT Asset Management and Configuration team, supporting the delivery of high‑quality IT services across the University.
This is a varied and hands‑on role that plays an important part in delivering a high‑quality, customer‑focused IT service. You’ll be involved throughout the lifecycle of our IT equipment — from receiving and recording new assets, through to configuring and deploying devices, maintaining accurate records and securely managing their disposal.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the wider IT team, helping to ensure our equipment is available, well managed and ready when our customers need it. You’ll also play an important role in managing service requests and making sure these are completed within agreed SLAs, while delivering an excellent customer experience.
This is a practical role and involves the regular lifting and movement of IT equipment using trolleys and cages. This is an essential part of the position, with individual IT assets weighing up to 10kg.
If you are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of IT Support Analyst, we would love to hear from you.
Interviews for this role are scheduled to take place on 28 October 2026.
