Job description

The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University.

The IT Support Administrator serves as one of the Foundation's primary points of contact for IT support, managing user identity and access across Foundation, University, and cloud-based systems while providing responsive, professional technical support to all Foundation staff. This role also provides secondary/backup support for workstation deployment, endpoint device management, and audiovisual and conference room technologies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provisions and manage user accounts and access controls across Foundation, University, and cloud-based systems, including Active Directory/Azure AD administration, and serves as the Foundation's Security Contact for Pinnacle and AITS-administered enterprise systems (e.g., Banner, HR Front End, iBuy, TEM).
  • Conducts regular access audits, verifies compliance documentation, implements remediation actions, and processes new access requests and timely access terminations as staff join, transfer, or leave the Foundation.
  • Serves as primary liaison for identity and access management, documenting IAM procedures to meet Foundation and University security and compliance standards.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the IT Help Desk, providing Tier 1/Tier 2 technical support and first-level problem resolution, and creates and tracks support tickets in the Foundation's official ticketing system.
  • Coordinates and conducts IT onboarding and orientation for new employees and serves as Foundation liaison to university-provided telephone systems.
  • Provides backup support for end-user device deployment, network file services, cloud storage, print infrastructure, and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, including basic permissions management and asset inventory.
  • Provides backup support for audiovisual equipment and conference-room technologies, and travels occasionally to remote Foundation offices to provide hands‑on assistance as needed.
  • Assists with the recruitment, training, and supervision of IT student employees, and collaborates with IT Operations team members and campus technology working groups.
  • Works independently with sound judgment and problem‑solving skills, pursues continuing professional development, and maintains regular communication with the IT Operations Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum two years of IT experience (or an associate’s degree substituting for one year, or a bachelor’s degree substituting for two years), with experience supporting user access, identity management, or IT security administration preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to engage professionally with end users at all technical levels.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting, along with a working knowledge of desktop deployment and security concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills, willingness to learn new technologies, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Active Directory user and group administration and core IT security concepts such as access control, authentication, and account provisioning/de‑provisioning.
  • Experience administering enterprise identity and access management systems (e.g., Pinnacle, AITS‑supported systems) in a higher education or comparable environment.
  • Experience supporting audiovisual/conference room technologies and working within a ticket‑based work management system.
  • Familiarity with University of Illinois administrative systems (e.g., Banner, OnBase) and an understanding of fundraising operations or financial services as they relate to higher education.
