Job summary

State of Michigan is seeking an IT Student Assistant to support IT project coordinators and managers across the full project lifecycle. You will gain hands-on experience in design, development, testing, maintenance and oversight of project schedules aligned with resource requirements.

You will assist with using the State of Michigan PPM tool to create and maintain project data, and help users troubleshoot tool-related issues while learning project management best practices in a state government

Qualifications

• Enrollment in IT-related degree program at a post-secondary institution.
• Evidence of active enrollment or acceptance required.
• No STEM-OPT participation.

Job description

This position functions as an IT student who will be assigned to work with and assist various Information Technology Project Coordinators and Managers in a wide range of professional assignments that span the entire information technology project environment.

The IT Student will acquire knowledge and skills to allow him/her to provide design, development, testing, maintenance and oversight of project schedules that are logical and resource driven to support project management and portfolio management activities. The IT student position will assist project managers in the creation and maintenance of project information utilizing the State of Michigan Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) tool. This includes assisting PPM tool users with tool related issues, including problem analysis and resolution.
