Department of Technology Management and Budget (DTMB) is seeking a Client Specialist to triage and resolve IT challenges for the Michigan Department of Education and CEPI. You will coordinate escalations, ensure policy‑driven resolutions, and collaborate with a spectrum of IT professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in computer science, data processing, CS systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.
  • Associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in related IT fields and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or IT technician plus four years of professional IT experience equivalent to IT Infrastructure/Programmer‑Analyst P11 or 12.

Responsibilities

  • Triages and assists clients to resolve IT challenges, facilitating escalations and issue resolution per DTMB policies and procedures.
  • Assists with security compliance in support of MDE and CEPI agency goals and missions.
  • Works with diverse team members including state employees, contractors, architects, developers, DBAs, and agency clients.

Job description

TheDepartment of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB)supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB Agency Services supporting the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI).

This person needs to be an excellent communicator, meaning you can effectively make oral and written reports, presentations and prepare clear and concise documentation. We need someone who can resolve problems in a timely manner and seeks optimum solutions.
This position functions as a Client Specialist, within a team of technology professionals. The position is responsible for triaging and assisting clients to resolve their IT challenges, facilitating all escalations and issue resolution according to DTMB policies and procedures, and assisting with security compliance all in support of MDE and CEPI agency goals and missions. This position works with a variety of team members, including state employees and contractors, architects, developers, database administrators, and agency business clients from MDE and CEPI.

ITS 14 -- Position Description
SIGNING BONUS:

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Position Location/Remote Office:

The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

Education and Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Experience

Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.

An associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, mathematics or equivalent; and at least two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
OR

At least an educational level typically acquired through the completion of high school and at least three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
