Job summary

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) seeks a Senior DBA to manage production and non-production databases, software systems and third-party IT products. You will lead planning, design, development, release management, troubleshooting and support of database components, software systems and third party IT products.

You will ensure security, backup, and recovery on DBMS; configure parameters; optimize resources for performance and cost, and participate in 24x7 production support with mentoring of junior

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of applicable work experience required, with 5 years as a DBA; healthcare setting preferred.
  • Good expertise with healthcare industry and COTS products; understanding of major EHR solution.
  • Server virtualization technologies understanding.
  • Ability to work off hours in a 24x7 production support environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to peer review functional and technical tasks.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Flexible and analytical problem-solving abilities.

Under direction of the DBA Specialist, IT Manager, or the Director manages and maintains all production and non-production databases, software systems and third-party IT products. The Senior DBA leads the planning, design, development, release management, troubleshooting and support of database components, software systems and third party IT products. This position is responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration. The responsibilities also include troubleshooting application issues and/or data issues when they arise. You will communicate solutions, issues, and risks directly with technical management or other responsible entities. The Senior DBA ensures appropriate security, backup, and recovery on Database Management Systems; configures database parameters; prototypes designs against logical data models; defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This individual optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost. The Senior DBA supports multiple services and multiple databases of high impact, high importance, and high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. The Senior DBA is part of an IT team that is accountable for production support (including on-call duties in a 24x7 environment) as well as new projects. The ideal candidate will have led database development projects and advised management and users on new or optimal technologies or methods to improve the functionality and/or efficiency of the organization's databases. He or she will have coached, trained, and mentored less senior professionals.

Education And Experience
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • 7 years of applicable work experience required, with 5 years as a DBA; experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
