About Princeton TMX
Princeton TMX is the solution for unified transportation management, accelerated by AI. We help our customers manage their transportation with technology built to be efficient, intuitive, and accurate. We are growing, and we are investing in our internal IT function to better support our team and our product.
Position Summary
We are hiring a dedicated IT Specialist to own all internal IT operations at Princeton TMX and to serve as a Tier 2 support resource for our product. This role covers purchasing and managing company hardware, supporting employees, administering our core software and security tools, and handling the IT side of every new hire and departure. In addition, this person acts as the front line for product support escalations that move beyond Tier 1 and our Product Owners—resolving what they can and packaging clear hand‑offs for our development team.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Asset Management
- Purchase, provision, and ship laptops, peripherals, and other hardware to employees across in-office and remote locations.
- Maintain an accurate, current inventory of all company IT assets—tracking assignment, lifecycle, reimaging of returned devices, and retirement/disposal.
- Manage relationships and procurement with IT vendors (hardware, software, and services).
Employee IT Support & Lifecycle
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee IT support (help desk) for both in-office and remote staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system (Windows and macOS), and peripheral issues (printers, routers, etc.).
- Own the IT side of new-hire onboarding: set up equipment, provision accounts, and grant appropriate access.
- Own the IT side of offboarding and termination: deprovision accounts and access, and recover and reimage devices.
Software & Systems Administration
- Administer and maintain company software and security platforms, including Google Workspace, the Zoho suite (CRM, Desk), CrowdStrike, KnowBe4, 1Password, Mosyle MDM, and Apple Business Manager, among others.
- Manage licenses, user provisioning, and configuration across business applications.
- Help keep core business data accurate and well-maintained within these systems.
- Document standards, processes, and best practices for company applications.
- Act as the front-line Tier 2 support resource for the Princeton TMX product, handling escalations that Tier 1 support and Product Owners cannot resolve before they reach the development team.
- Investigate and triage product issues at a functional level—reproducing problems, reviewing configuration and data, running basic queries, and understanding how data flows through integrations, EDI, and APIs.
- Resolve what is possible directly and package clear, well-documented escalations for R&D, reducing the support burden on the development team and improving resolution times.
Security & Compliance
- Monitor operating system and software patch levels across employee laptops (via CrowdStrike and related tools) and proactively follow up with employees who fall behind on applying updates.
- Own the company's employee cybersecurity awareness training program (e.g., KnowBe4).
- Gather and organize the evidence required for the company's SOC audit, and support related compliance activities.
- Support the product penetration testing process (these tests target our product rather than the internal IT environment).
- Promote and reinforce security best practices and awareness across the company.
- Help ensure the security, privacy, and reliability of company networks, systems, and data for in-office and remote employees.
- Stay current with IT and security industry trends and tools.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in IT support or administration, ideally as a generalist owning multiple IT functions.
- Experience supporting and configuring devices across Windows and macOS, plus common peripherals.
- Familiarity with networking configuration (firewalls, switches) and VOIP phone systems.
- Comfort running basic SQL queries and data lookups to investigate issues.
- Working understanding of integrations, EDI, and/or APIs and how data moves between systems.
- Familiarity with CRM and support-desk platforms (Zoho or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+.
- Experience administering the Zoho suite (CRM, Desk).
- Experience with Apple device management (Mosyle MDM, Apple Business Manager), endpoint security (CrowdStrike), password management (1Password), and security awareness training platforms (KnowBe4).
- Experience gathering evidence for SOC 2 audits and supporting penetration testing efforts.
- Exposure to transportation, logistics, or TMS (transportation management software) environments.
- Experience owning an IT asset management / inventory system.
