Overview:
The IT Support Specialist I serves as a foundational operational role designed for early-career professionals eager to build high-level expertise in Microsoft cloud administration.
Balancing hands-on technical execution with daily service desk operations, this position drives physical IT deployments (including hardware staging, office workstation setups, equipment provisioning, and rack infrastructure) while actively resolving tier-1 user tickets.
As a structured growth role, this seat offers a clear, milestone-driven pathway toward an IT Support Specialist II title, supported by fully company-funded Microsoft certification pathways and direct technical mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Tier-1 Service Desk Operations: Serve as the primary first-line technical resource; triaging, diagnosing, and resolving end-user tickets with high detail while properly escalating complex issues exceeding tier-1 scope.
- Hardware Lifecycle & Endpoint Provisioning: Execute complete hardware lifecycle processes, including laptop imaging, Microsoft Intune device enrollment, hardware staging, and structured onboarding/offboarding workflows.
- Physical IT Infrastructure & Office Support: Coordinate physical workplace technology needs, including workstation deployments, peripheral configurations, cable management, equipment relocations, and conference room AV/hardware setups.
- Asset Management & Inventory Integrity: Maintain meticulous tracking of company hardware assets, ensuring real-time accuracy regarding inventory status, device assignments, and physical locations.
- Identity & Account Administration: Perform basic user access management, account creation, and Microsoft 365 licensing tasks under the direct supervision of the Helpdesk Manager.
- Knowledge Base Contributions: Author clear break/fix documentation and update standard operating procedures as new technical solutions are identified.
Required Skills & Qualifications (must-haves):
- 1–3 years of experience in a desktop support, service desk, or IT internship role (or equivalent hands‑on technical background).
- Core understanding of Windows OS endpoint troubleshooting and administration of the Microsoft 365 end‑user suite.
- Proactive, hands‑on approach with strong willingness to manage physical workplace setups, hardware routing, and infrastructure tasks.
- High commitment to thorough documentation, precise ticket hygiene, and consistent SLA follow‑through.
Mandatory Certification & Promotion Pathway
All required certification exams are fully company-funded, and team members qualify for cash incentive bonuses upon successful completion under our Certification Incentive Program.
Required credentials and target timelines:
- SC-900 (Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals): Within 90 days of hire
- AB-900 (Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals): Within 6 months of hire
- MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator Associate): Within 12 months of hire
Promotion Criteria for IT Support Specialist II
Achieving the MD-102 certification serves as the primary technical prerequisite for promotion to IT Support Specialist II. Advancement also requires maintaining an annual performance rating of "Meets Expectations" or higher across all review criteria.
Partner Portal Association Requirement
Within 30 days of hire, your Microsoft Learn profile must be linked to TrustedTech in the Microsoft Partner Center, and it must be updated immediately upon earning each new credential to maintain organizational skilling compliance.
Compliance, Governance & Physical Requirements
- Information Security (ISO 27001): Holds named operational duties under our Information Security Management System (ISMS), including maintaining real-time hardware asset accuracy, executing standard onboarding/offboarding technical checklists, and promptly escalating suspected security threats. Mandatory annual security training required.
- Physical & On-Site Capabilities: Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. regularly, perform work inside equipment racks and under desks, and remain standing/walking for extended periods during facility projects. Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications (nice-to-haves):
- Early exposure to Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) administration, basic Azure concepts, or CompTIA Network+/A+ fundamentals.
- Practical familiarity with conference room technology, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or basic AV setup and troubleshooting.
- Basic exposure to PowerShell commands or an interest in automating routine administrative tasks.
- Prior experience using modern ticketing platforms (e.g., Jira Service Management, Freshservice, ServiceNow, or Zendesk).
- Holding an active CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or any foundational Microsoft credential (such as MS-900 or SC-900) at the time of hire.
