Job summary

The New York State Education Department's Office of Information Technology Services seeks an Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming) to support Special Education Information Technology Systems, primarily SEQAIS and SPEC-ED Providers, while assisting with modernization of IHRS into ERA.

The role involves system analysis, development, troubleshooting, testing, deployment, and mentoring of IT staff, with reporting to the Special Ed ITS unit lead.

Qualifications

• Five years of professional experience in computer programming involving planning, configuration, testing, implementation, and/or management of information technology systems.
• Bachelor's degree in any field with 15 semester credit hours in computer science (9+ in programming languages) plus two years of programming experience, or equivalent combinations.
• One year of permanent service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) for promotion candidates.
• Telecommuting up to 50% allowed at supervisor's discretion.
• Security standards compliance and system documentation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Perform system analysis, development, troubleshooting, testing, deployment and mentoring of IT staff.
• Support modernization of IHRS into ERA and SEQAIS/SPEC-ED Providers.
• Produce and maintain system documentation and reports for compliance and upgrades.
