Job Summary

This role provides Tier 1 support and serves as the escalation point for Tier 2/3 issues, focusing on hardware support, backup and restoration management, IT automation, and system performance optimization. It offers broad exposure to IT operations, including virtualization, networking, enterprise backup solutions, and security operations. This is a remote position.

Essential Functions:

• Deliver end-user support for a smooth IT experience.
• Provide Tier 1 support and escalate Tier 2/3 issues.
• Manage IT systems' reliability, security, and performance.
• Maintain backup systems for desktops, servers, and instrument PCs.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain instrument PCs, ensuring security and backup compliance.
• Support hardware issues across desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware faults and perform system rebuilds.
• Automate IT tasks using scripting tools like PowerShell.
• Support Windows domain environments, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Manage Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint and email security.
• Handle Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Autopilot deployments.
• Assist with PBX phone systems and network troubleshooting.
• Monitor security operations, vulnerability scans, and compliance.
• Document IT systems, procedures, and assets.
• Provide occasional on-site support at lab locations.
• Research and propose hardware/software upgrades.
• Create technical documentation and provide user training.
• Collaborate across teams to resolve support escalations.
• Maintain professional conduct and high standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in system administration and desktop support.
• Strong hardware support experience.
• Experience managing backup systems and automating tasks.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and network troubleshooting.
• Willingness to travel to lab locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with virtualization, PBX systems, SOC, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint security.
• Experience with laboratory IT infrastructure and supporting instrument PCs.
• Knowledge of Intune, Entra ID, and Autopilot.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Remote work with home internet, moderate noise level, and travel less than 20%. Physical demands include handling objects and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
