Job summary

Spatial Front, Inc. seeks an IT Systems Administrator to oversee daily service-desk operations for Linux and Windows workstations at the NOAA building in College Park, MD.

The role focuses on security updates, patch management, and system backups while coordinating with federal leads and the program manager to meet requirements. You will produce regular status reports, manage tasks for the team, and ensure documentation is current.

Qualifications

• Must pass a US Public Trust background check for access to client systems.
• Excellent communication skills able to translate technical information into plain language.
• MS Office and Google Docs skills.
• Must be able to physically lift and carry property weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day to day operation of the Linux and Windows workstations service desk.
• Oversee and perform quarterly baseline and ad-hoc security updates on all operating systems.
• Oversee and patch operating systems and third party software via automated tools.
• Create Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Status reports.
• Assigns and tracks tasks for the team.
• Works with Federal leads to track and follow through on assignments.
• Works with Program manager to meet all requirements in the PWS.
• Select, install, configure, and administer hardware and software systems over a LAN/WAN architecture.
• Install and maintain system upgrades, operating and security patches, and peripheral devices.
• Performs moderately complex systems and database administration.
• Monitor and tune systems to ensure optimum performance.
• Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
• Recommend and schedule repairs or replacement of equipment.
• Oversees appropriate level software installations and upgrades and related software packages.
• Install, configure, and manage backups and recovery of applications and data.
• Maintain system and data files, and monitor system integrity.
• Develops and maintains system documentation and process documentation.
• Interacts with client management to answer questions and requests regarding complex system issues.
• Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.
