Job summary

County of San Mateo seeks an experienced IS Project Manager II for its Technology Services Department. The role guides complex, county-wide technology projects from initiation through close-out, coordinating requirements, budgets, contracts, and vendor activities.

The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in MIS/CS or related field, plus four years of IT project management experience and PMP/PgMP certification. This is a high-impact, cross-departmental PM role within the PMO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or related field.
• Four+ years of progressively responsible IT project management experience.
• Experience with infrastructure or applications project management and vendor contracts.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage complex county-wide technology projects through all life cycle stages.
• Develop budgets, contracts, schedules, and monitor progress against milestones.
• Oversee vendor selections, proposals, and project awards; manage consultant relations.
• Lead cross-functional teams; gather user requirements and perform risk assessments.
• Design, test, and implement IT solutions; ensure alignment with policy and regulations.
• Prepare feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and project documentation.
• Maintain risk matrices and report status with KPIs; manage multiple projects concurrently.
