Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA in North Carolina seeks an IT Project Manager to lead IT/IM projects at the Kinston site, coordinating stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, IT, and vendors to deliver scope, cost, quality, and schedule.

The role requires experience in aerospace/engineering environments, strong governance, risk management, and the ability to work onsite 2-3 days per week with growth opportunities and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, IT Program Coordinator, or senior IT PMO in a complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of IT project delivery and Information Management environments.
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple technical, business, and operational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage: scope & requirements; schedules & milestones; risks, issues & dependencies; resources & capacity; budgets & delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate with technical teams, business users, and senior management.
  • Experience in structured project governance environments.

  • Autonomous work style while coordinating distributed teams.

  • Willingness to work onsite in Kinston, NC 2-3 days/week

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate IT/Information Management projects supporting the Kinston site and its business operations.
  • Manage projects from initiation through delivery, including scope, milestones, resources, budget, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between business stakeholders, manufacturing/engineering teams, IT teams, vendors, and management.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into IT project activities and priorities.
  • Maintain project roadmaps, schedules, RAID logs, and delivery plans.
  • Identify risks, issues, dependencies early and drive mitigation/escalation.
  • Communicate project progress, blockers, and decisions clearly.
  • Prepare project status reports with KPIs and delivery metrics.
  • Lead governance routines: steering meetings, reviews, and action follow-ups.
  • Monitor performance against quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordinate contributors across local, regional, and global teams.
  • Ensure compliance with IT/IM governance, cybersecurity, and PM processes.
  • Support deployment, transition, and operational readiness activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PM practices and tools.

This position sits at the intersection of Information Technology / Information Management (IM), industrial operations, engineering, and business functions. The Project Manager will be responsible for driving IT-related projects from planning through execution, coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring projects are delivered according to agreed scope, cost, quality, and schedule.

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, engineering, or another complex industrial environment, and understands how IT solutions support production and operational processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate IT / Information Management projects supporting the Kinston site and its business operations.
  • Manage projects from initiation through delivery, including scope, planning, milestones, resources, budget, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Act as the primary coordination point between business stakeholders, manufacturing/engineering teams, IT teams, vendors, and management.
  • Understand business and operational requirements and translate them into structured IT project activities and priorities.
  • Maintain project roadmaps, schedules, action plans, RAID logs, decision logs, and delivery plans.
  • Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies early and drive mitigation and escalation when required.
  • Ensure effective communication and visibility regarding project progress, priorities, blockers, and decisions.
  • Prepare and present project status reporting, KPIs, delivery performance, workload/capacity information, and management updates.
  • Lead project governance routines including steering meetings, project reviews, working sessions, action follow-up, and escalation.
  • Monitor project performance against quality, cost, delivery, and schedule objectives.
  • Coordinate technical and functional contributors across local, regional, and potentially global teams.
  • Ensure projects comply with client IT/IM governance, architecture, cybersecurity, change management, and project management processes.
  • Support deployment, transition, change management, and operational readiness activities when applicable.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, tools, templates, and governance processes.
