Job summary

Genworth in Richmond, VA is seeking an IT Project Management Specialist to oversee small projects and coordinate work streams under a Senior PM.

You will act as Scrum Master for at least one team, drive clear status communications, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure on-time delivery using Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban or Hybrid methods. This role demands collaboration and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead customer-focused projects across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong planning, organizational and execution skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral, written, presentations).
  • Experience gathering and detailing business scope with stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Understanding PM methodologies (Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Hybrid).

YOUR ROLE
What You Will Be Doing
  • Manage small projects and/or coordinate work streams for large projects under the direction of a Senior Project Manager
  • Act as Scrum Master for at least one Scrum Team with a focus on guiding the team toward delivering work, identifying opportunities for team improvement, and guiding the team to implement solutions to those opportunities
  • Provide clear, accurate and transparent written and oral status communication
  • Proactively identify and escalate risks, issues and dependencies
  • Maintain disciplined control of scope, schedule and deliverables
  • Apply standard project management practices and methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban and Hybrid)
  • Build cooperative relationships with team
  • Identify and escalate process improvement opportunities
What You Bring
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic relationships and lead customer focused projects across organizational boundaries
  • Excellent planning, organizational and execution skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, interpersonal and presentation)
  • Demonstrated experience interacting & collaborating with business areas in gathering, documenting and developing business scope for projects
  • Results oriented, ability to meet and exceed objectives and handle multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong analytical and business problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Applies and understands methodologies and project management fundamentals

National Range: $68,900 – $103,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
