Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Manages the full lifecycle of assigned UITS projects, includingscope definition, scheduling, resource coordination, anddelivery.
- Develops and maintains project documentation such as projectcharters, schedules, status reports, and risk logs.
- Coordinates project team activities, assigning tasks, trackingprogress, and removing obstacles to keep projects on track.
- Communicates project status, milestones, risks, and issuesregularly to stakeholders and IT leadership.
- Facilitates project meetings, including kickoffs, workingsessions, and retrospectives, and document outcomes and actionitems.
- Monitors project budgets, track actual versus plannedexpenditures, and flag variances for management review.
- Manages relationships with vendors and third-party serviceproviders to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Identifies and escalates project risks and issues in a timelymanner, proposing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and document businessand technical requirements.
- Ensures project closeout activities are completed, includingfinal documentation, lessons learned, and transition tooperations.
- Leads end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale UITS projectsfrom initiation through closeout, ensuring adherence to scope,schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Develops comprehensive project plans, including work breakdownstructures, resource plans, risk registers, and communicationplans.
- Manages project budgets, track expenditures, forecast costs,and report variances to stakeholders and leadership.
- Facilitates stakeholder engagement across diverse universityunits, building consensus and managing competing priorities.
- Identifies, assesses, and proactively mitigates project risksand issues, escalating to leadership as appropriate.
- Mentors and provides guidance to Project Managers and ProjectCoordinators, promoting professional development and adherence toPMO standards.
- Coordinates cross-functional teams including IT staff, externalvendors, and university partners to achieve projectobjectives.
- Ensures thorough project documentation, including requirements,status reports, meeting minutes, decisions, and lessonslearned.
- Drives adoption of project management best practices andcontribute to the continuous improvement of PMO processes andtemplates.
- Presents project status, risks, and recommendations to UITSleadership and stakeholders.
General Responsibilities
- Leads planning and implementation of complex IT projectsinvolving university staff from different teams and externalpartners on interrelated project tasks.
- Designs, creates, executes, and manages advanced project workplans and work-flow documents; establishes project timelines andrevises as appropriate to meet changing needs andrequirements.
- Manages budget and monitors progress of projects at highestlevels to ensure that quality and cost constraints are met.
- Reports and documents project milestones to share with leaders,stakeholders, and/or project partners.
- Makes recommendations to leadership to improve projectmanagement approaches and processes.
- Researches and stays up to date with IT project management bestpractices, approaches, and trends.
- Creates and fosters relationships with key project stakeholdersand service owners to ensure functional user expectations andrequirements are articulated and integrated.
- Often provides guidance and support to less experiencedpeers.

Required
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,Business Administration, or a closely related field.
Work Experience
Required
- 5 years technical project management experience.
Preferred
- 5 years of project management experience, with at least three 3years managing complex, enterprise-level IT projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with cross-functionalteams and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience managing IT project budgets of significantscope.
- Experience in a higher education or similarly complexorganizational environment.
- Prior experience mentoring or leading junior project managementstaff.
Licenses and Certificates
Preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification upon dateof hire.
- Agile, Scrum, or other relevant certifications Upon Date ofHire.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.
