Qualifications

IT Project Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Engineer to lead and execute technology projects for our managed services clients. This role combines project implementation, technical engineering, client communication, and escalation support. The ideal candidate has strong experience deploying and managing network infrastructure, surveillance camera systems, VoIP solutions, and Microsoft-based environments.

This position requires an individual who can take ownership of projects from planning and design through implementation and documentation while maintaining a customer-focused attitude and a strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering
  • Lead deployment and migration projects for SMB and mid-market clients.
  • Design, implement, and upgrade network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless systems, and VLAN configurations.
  • Install and configure surveillance camera and video management systems.
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain VoIP telephone platforms and related hardware.
  • Perform server, workstation, Microsoft 365, and cloud migration projects.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate project activities with internal teams, vendors, and client stakeholders.
  • Provide project status updates and communicate risks, timelines, and scope changes.
Network Infrastructure
  • Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking environments.
  • Implement VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, and wireless network solutions.
  • Configure firewall security policies and network segmentation.
  • Troubleshoot network performance, connectivity, and security issues.
  • Perform network assessments and remediation recommendations.
Microsoft & Systems Administration
  • Administer Microsoft 365 environments including:
    • Exchange Online
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive
    • Teams
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Intune
  • Support Windows Server environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices and security controls.
Technical Support & Escalation
  • Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation resource for service desk technicians.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex workstation, server, networking, and cloud issues.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and problem management.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Participate in client meetings and project discovery sessions.
  • Provide technical recommendations and strategic guidance.
  • Deliver projects professionally with minimal disruption to client operations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and follow-through.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
  • 3+ years managing and implementing technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Structured cabling and network rack deployments.
  • Experience deploying and managing:
    • Firewalls
    • Managed switches
    • Wireless networking
    • VLANs
    • VPN technologies
  • Experience with surveillance camera systems.
  • Experience with hosted VoIP systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
