Project Scope
We are seeking an IT Program Manager to support a healthcare IT PMO in planning, managing, and coordinating complex, interrelated technology initiatives across multiple Scrum teams. This role will operate within a scaled Agile framework, driving program-level delivery across strategic organizational projects that require cross-team coordination and alignment.
Position Summary
The IT Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing, launching, and executing large-scale IT initiatives in a complex iterative environment. This individual will blend classic project management discipline with Agile principles — developing detailed program plans, working with Scrum teams to break work into consumable user stories, and ensuring continuous delivery of value to patients and staff. The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of program management experience in a healthcare IT environment, strong coaching and facilitation skills, and the ability to manage complex dependencies across multiple teams and stakeholders simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and coordinate interrelated program workstreams across multiple Scrum teams chartered around business verticals.
- Develop detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, deliverables, and go/no-go decision points.
- Work with Scrum teams to allocate and commit work in support of program timelines, ensuring all tasks are accounted for.
- Serve as the IT point of contact and represent IT in planning sessions with business leadership.
- Manage program scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and dependencies using appropriate change control policies.
- Participate in Scaled Agile ceremonies including quarterly planning, PO Sync, and Scrum of Scrums.
- Establish effective cross-team collaboration and communication across all program workstreams.
- Identify metrics and KPIs to monitor and manage program performance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation using collaborative IT resources.
- Produce status reports and communications for managers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate vendor and external contractor work as needed.
- Promote continuous improvement of delivery processes and support the refinement of Program Management governance.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of traditional Waterfall IT project management experience including 5+ years managing enterprise projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex programs in a healthcare IT environment.
- Strong coaching skills and ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing program budgets, risks, and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Ability to travel up to 80% as required.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; 10–15 years of relevant program management experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- Certified Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance), Agile Project Management (IC Agile), or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI).
- Healthcare IT experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting Scaled Agile frameworks across large health system environments.
- Strong executive communication skills across IT and business leadership audiences.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Sharp, strategic program leader with the ability to manage large, complex initiatives from inception through completion.
- Equally strong in Agile and traditional project management — knows when to apply which approach.
- Motivating coach who can guide Scrum teams while keeping program-level accountability intact.
- Comfortable operating in a complex, iterative environment with shifting priorities and intersecting goals.
- Brings structure, transparency, and continuous improvement to every program they lead.
