Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned IT program and portfolio leader to steer large-scale, cross-functional initiatives in healthcare IT. You will align product, engineering, data, and operations teams to deliver strategic programs, modernizing platforms and enhancing patient experiences.

You will guide governance, drive transparency, and shape delivery maturity while managing budgets, vendors, and multi-disciplinary stakeholders across the enterprise.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of progressive experience managing complex IT programs or portfolios.
PMP certification preferred.
Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models.
Familiarity with IT governance, architecture, and cybersecurity frameworks.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of project managers delivering a portfolio aligned with strategic objectives.

Job description

• Lead and manage a team of project managers and senior project managers delivering a portfolio aligned with strategic objectives
• Oversee complex, cross-functional system implementations, digital transformations, infrastructure modernization, facility expansions, and cybersecurity programs
• Ensure project managers maintain artifacts covering scope, schedule, status communication, budget, and risk management
• Lead teams through organizational change, ambiguity, and competing priorities
• Align IT project management, vendor project management, and operational leadership for enterprise-wide initiatives
• Manage portfolio resourcing, staffing allocation, and project assignments
• Interview, hire, onboard, coach, mentor, and provide escalation support for project managers
• Manage vendor relationships supporting project management staffing
• Monitor portfolio financial performance and align capital and operating expenditures with finance
• Establish and facilitate program steering committees and governance
• Build partnerships across clinical, operational, financial, design and construction, and technical organizations
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to modernize platforms, enable AI and analytics, improve customer and patient experiences, and optimize delivery processes
• Improve Solution Delivery organizational maturity, governance, transparency, and operational efficiency
• Develop tools to automate project management deliverables and processes
• Represent IT Solutions Delivery in enterprise forums and collaborate with the EPMO
• Translate business goals into executable roadmaps and coordinate cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Data & Analytics, and business operations

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
10+ years of progressive experience managing complex IT programs or portfolios
PMP certification preferred
Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models
Familiarity with IT governance, architecture, and cybersecurity frameworks
Exceptional leadership, verbal communication, and written communication skills
Knowledge of the healthcare industry
Ability to influence without direct authority across a large, matrixed organization
Experience leading project managers supporting enterprise-scale IT initiatives
Expert-level experience with Smartsheet, ServiceNow, and JIRA
Experience in nursing healthcare IT environments and previous Epic experience desired
Ability to balance strategic vision, business value, user experience, and technical feasibility
Experience using metrics, insights, and continuous improvement practices to guide decisions and improve delivery performance
