About the role:
Gartner is looking for a well-rounded IT Program Manager who can provide project and program leadership for technology projects within Gartner's Conference Technology organization. As the Global Conferences business continues to grow, our Conference Technology team will aim to deliver world-class execution, world-class digital products, and world-class data availability. The IT Program Manager role will lead a complex Portfolio of IT projects across multiple technology services. They are accountable for the quality of the results, benefits realization, timely delivery, ensuring that projects are planned and executed in a manner consistent with company strategy, commitments, goals, and standards. They will be responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to standard Agile practices, coaching and guiding teams through continuous improvement and adoption. In this role you will be required to manage and collaborate with geographically dispersed teams. The candidate must have experience driving Agile transformations and improving organizational Agile maturity.
What you will do:
- Responsible for the oversight and management of global technology-based Project Portfolio in support of IT initiatives. Accountable for improving organizational Agile maturity and adherence to Agile practices, and for fostering an environment of collaboration and high impact results
- Enforce strategic portfolio management standards and practices, promoting transparency, execution and risk discipline across technology development work.
- Analyze the scope and direction of initiatives across multiple levels of management and organizational boundaries
- Direct multiple sub-team project plans and execution efforts into a cohesive whole
- Evaluate project and program performance consistently with key performance indicators
- Partner with technical leadership to report project progress to executive level and cross‑team stakeholders. Leverage personal expertise to develop and present rational conclusions, recommendations and direct implementation strategies/action plans
- Facilitate the adoption of Agile methodologies, standards and practices across multiple services and ensure adherence by Technology teams.
- Provide guidance and support to Scrum Masters in Agile principles and practices
- Leverage Agile metrics like lead time, cycle time, velocity, and burn‑down charts to monitor team performance and identify areas for improvement
- Identify systemic operational issues and resolve them as well as identify root causes and process improvements to present similar issues
- Responsible for the creation of long‑term strategies and approaches to control and manage projects in support of complex business requirements
- Support the development of strategic and tactical planning of technology and people resources necessary for successful completion of several large‑scale projects
What you will need:
Strong IT professional with 1 0 + years of experience in program management. The candidate should have strong qualitative and quantitative problem‑solving skills along with high on ownership and accountability.
Must have:
- 1 0 + years of experience working with IT Development teams in project/program management capacity
- Deep expertise in Agile & Waterfall methodologies; proven track record of effectively coaching teams to achieve Agile maturity
- Demonstrated leadership skills working with matrixed teams, management and executive stakeholders in a dynamic, growth environment
- Strong ability to understand, influence and manage stakeholder expectations and to resolve issues that may affect delivery
- Strong project leadership, adept at Backlog Refinement, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Agile Team Building across multiple global teams, Release Management and Conflict Resolution
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and translate complex concepts into actionable steps
- Ability to manage project financials including budget plans, monitor spend and prepare for potential risks
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite, JIRA and Confluence
Who you are :
