Job summary

Texas A&M University at Galveston is hiring an IT Professional I to support workstation hardware, software, and network services in the Technology Services department.

Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus four months of customer service experience; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential. On-call nights/weekends may be needed; on-site work in Galveston, TX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four months (1 semester) of student worker and/or customer service experience.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Workstation support: installs, configures, maintains, and upgrades hardware and software.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves workstation and network issues.
  • Provides training and supervision to departmental student workers.
  • Monitors and maintains system security and endpoint management.
  • Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed.
  • Assists with planning, directing, and coordinating operational matters to meet department goals.
  • Researches, recommends, and resolves technical and procedural problems for customers.

Essential Duties/Tasks:
  • Workstation Support Installs, configures, maintains, and upgrades, workstation hardware and software.
  • Moves equipment.
  • Provides training and supervision to departmental student workers on these procedures.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves workstation and network issues.
  • Recommends upgrades for workstations as necessary.
  • Recommends specifications for workstation and/or peripheral or hardware purchases.
  • Monitors and maintains system security.
  • End Point Management System Configuration.
  • General Support Provides centralized support for computer needs on campus.
  • Researches, recommends, and resolves a wide range of technical and procedural problems for customers.
  • Provides estimates and progress reports.
  • Works with departmental staff to understand and outline goals and objectives for departmental technology needs.
  • Makes recommendations to create efficiency and enhance operations of the department.
  • Audio Visual programming and support.
  • Departmental Support Assists management in planning, directing, and coordinating operational and/or procedural matters to meet goals and objectives of the department.
  • Ensures work is accurate and in compliance with department or project quality standards.
  • Provides on-call support on nights and weekends as needed.
  • Training and Other Assist customers on software operation.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Salary

Salary: $55,293 annually

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four months (1 semester) of student worker and/or customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certification MCSA SQL and Intune, Cisco CCNA, COMP TIA A+, Extron Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Strong interpersonal skills. Customer service experience. Experience configuring, administering, and/or troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and/or move medium weight objects.

This position is security sensitive This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements May be required to provide on-call support on nights and weekends as needed. This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems
