Job summary

The Office of the Federal Public Defender District of Arizona seeks a full-time Assistant Computer Systems Administrator (ACSA) – IT Network Administrator to support the enterprise network, security, and infrastructure from its Phoenix office.

The role emphasizes hands-on administration of Windows Server, virtualization, storage, and cybersecurity across multiple locations, with duties spanning network and data center operations and AI infrastructure support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field; CompTIA Network+/Security+ preferred.
• At least three years of specialized IT support experience.
• Experience with enterprise network administration and troubleshooting (switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, TCP/IP, VLANs).
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V; supporting data center operations.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage and enterprise backup/recovery technologies (preferably Veeam).
• Strong cybersecurity fundamentals, patch management, vulnerabilities remediation, and access control.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasional after-hours work.

Responsibilities

• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, routing).
• Administer Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory, Group Policy; support virtualization environments (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper‑V).
• Manage enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, CIFS/SMB) hardware, upgrades, lifecycle.
• Administer backup and recovery infrastructure (Veeam); monitor operations and support disaster recovery.
• Support cybersecurity operations—secure configuration, patch management, access control, incident remediation.
• Maintain data center infrastructure and perform hardware inspections and replacements.
• Assist with design, deployment, and security of on‑premises AI infrastructure; network segmentation and monitoring.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventories; develop scripts/automation to improve operations.
• Research emerging technologies in networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, and AI.
