Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Senior Radio and Life Safety Services Manager, supervises Board staff to ensure the development, implementation and quality of systems infrastructure in a timely and cost-effective manner. Scope of job usually entails work on multiple projects or a very large project with application engineers assigned to that project.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the development and documentation of functional requirements for systems infrastructure, including the budget development, planning, and monitoring processes.
  • Plans projects, monitors progress and reports development and implementation status to management using project management tools and reporting systems; develops detailed project plans, allocates staff and equipment resources and drafts management reports.
  • Supervises the translation of functional specifications into detailed technical systems designs.
  • Supervises the development and testing of related systems.
  • Supervises the installation and support of new business systems.
  • Ensures that current and future systems that are planned, developed, or procured meet Board standards and are compatible.
  • Schedules, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of professional subordinates, including evaluating employees and recommending career development training.
  • Develops and manages multiple projects simultaneously both as an individual as well as a team member.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Central Fire Alarm maintenance.
  • Two (2) years of direct supervisory level team experience.
  • Certified in NICET Level IV Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid class C driver's license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management, planning and scheduling relating to complex and diverse data management and end-user support issues.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration.
  • Knowledge of current computer technology (Windows, Active Directory, Virtualization, Server architecture).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to plan, control and develop time and cost estimates for project activities.
  • Ability to delegate, coordinate, and supervise the work of professional and technical personnel and contractors in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the entire organization.

DESIRABLE:

  • Project Management Certification.
  • Related technology certifications in the main areas of responsibilities.
  • Experience with the principles and practices of information security.
  • Experience with Campus Fire Alarm Systems and Emergency Communication Systems.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et. Al. and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.

  • Works in an office and field environment.
  • May walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  • May sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Uses keyboard devices and computer monitors.
  • Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents, drawings, contracts, technical specifications.
  • Uses substantial reasoning abilities in performing analysis and solving problems.
  • Exchanges information by phone, in writing and in person.
  • Drives to locations on Airport property.
