Salas O’Brien is seeking an IT Intern to join the Information Technology team. You will gain hands-on experience supporting a large distributed organization, with assignments across IT disciplines such as IT Help Desk/Client Services, Cybersecurity, Networking, or Infrastructure based on study interests and business needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with technical support, onboarding, cybersecurity activities, network/infrastructure tasks, and creating documentation while collaborating

Competenze

• Basic IT concepts through coursework, projects or experience.
• Familiarity with Windows, networking and cybersecurity.
• Exposure to PowerShell or Python is a plus.
• Microsoft 365 and cloud technologies knowledge is helpful.

• Assist with technical support and troubleshooting of computers, applications, peripherals, connectivity, networks, and other IT services.
• Assist with employee technology onboarding, device preparation, deployments, upgrades, and other IT initiatives.
• Support cybersecurity activities such as security monitoring, documentation, vulnerability management, compliance, and security awareness.
• Assist with network and infrastructure activities involving LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, switches, firewalls, monitoring, inventories, and documentation.

About the Role

The IT Intern will join the Salas O’Brien Information Technology team and gain hands-on experience supporting a large, distributed organization. Internship assignments may focus primarily within a specific IT discipline, including IT Help Desk / Client Services, Cybersecurity, Networking, or Infrastructure, based on the intern’s area of study, interests, skills, current IT initiatives, and business needs.

The goal is to provide meaningful, practical experience where interns can apply what they are learning, contribute to real IT work, and explore potential career paths within Information Technology.

Responsibilities

Depending on the internship assignment, an IT Intern may:

• Assist with technical support and troubleshooting of computers, applications, peripherals, connectivity, networks, and other IT services.
• Assist with employee technology onboarding, device preparation, deployments, upgrades, and other IT initiatives.
• Support cybersecurity activities such as security monitoring, documentation, vulnerability management, compliance, and security awareness.
• Assist with network and infrastructure activities involving LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, switches, firewalls, monitoring, inventories, and documentation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, inventories, and knowledge-base articles.
• Research and test new technologies, products, or technical solutions and help identify opportunities to improve or automate IT processes.

• Perform assigned technical tasks under the guidance of experienced IT team members and **escalate** issues when appropriate.

You Will Be a Great Fit If You

• Are currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Networking, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Have a genuine interest in technology and enjoy troubleshooting, problem-solving, and learning how things work.
• Have basic knowledge of computers, operating systems, networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, or other IT concepts through coursework, certifications, personal projects, or previous experience.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members and are organized, dependable, and comfortable asking questions.
• Are interested in developing skills within an assigned IT discipline while gaining exposure to the broader IT organization.
• Have exposure to technologies such as Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, PowerShell, Python, or IT support tools. Relevant CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or similar coursework or certifications are a plus.

Prior professional IT experience is not required.
