Job summary

OxyChem in Houston, TX is seeking a Summer IT Intern to gain hands-on experience in core business systems and SAP IT processes. You will work under a mentor and contribute to a key project during May–August, with training and development throughout the internship.

You will interact with IT staff in the Houston office, participate in hands-on sessions, and observe operations as you develop practical technical skills in a safety‑first environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Engineering with an emphasis in Technology or General IT.
• Must have graduation date December 2027 – May 2029.
• Must maintain minimum cumulative 2.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to business systems core to OxyChem’s operations with IT training.
• Interaction with key IT personnel to support project completion and presentation.
• Periodic shadowing with SAP IT team to understand our IT environment and processes.
• Training sessions with SAP IT team to learn OxyChem’s IT processes.
• Daily interaction with IT team in the Houston office.

OxyChem’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August. As an OxyChem intern, you will have the opportunity to lead and design a key project through hands‑on participation with core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our sales and business operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. OxyChem interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. In addition to attending training and development courses, lunch and learns, field trips, and social activities. Interns will be given the chance to meet with OxyChem executives and leadership throughout the internship.
