Job summary

OxyChem is seeking entry-level individuals pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering to fill the position of Process Engineer Intern. The Summer Intern Program runs from May through August, offering hands-on projects, mentorship, and networking with site and executive leaders to kickstart your career.

Responsibilities include protecting the environment and safety, driving process improvements, supporting operations, preparing AFEs for capital projects, and coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
• Graduation date December 2027 – May 2029.
• Minimum GPA 2.85 on a 4.0 scale.
• Willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities.
• Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start-up process improvements to increase production capacity and reduce costs.
• Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations including troubleshooting and reporting production status.
• Prepare AFEs for plant-scale capital projects and follow these projects to completion.
• Coordinate with vendors supplying operating services, consulting services, materials and equipment.

Position

OxyChem is looking for entry‑level individuals pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering to fill the position of Process Engineer Intern.

Responsibilities

Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products as our highest priority. Identify, evaluate, develop, specify, justify, install, and start‑up process improvements to increase production capacity, improve operating reliability, reduce manufacturing costs, reduce energy usage, conserve raw materials, improve product yields and improve product quality. Participate in any opportunity to enhance safety, upgrade environmental safeguards, and provide for the overall optimization of process operation. Provide ongoing engineering assistance to operations including troubleshooting of process operating problems, conducting special tests, developing reports, providing technical assistance as required and reporting of production status. Prepare AFE’s for ‘plant scale’ capital projects and follow these projects to a successful completion. Represent and/or assist production and engineering in matters of evaluation, selection and coordination and control of vendors supplying necessary operating services, consulting services, materials, equipment and other needs of operation.
