Job summary

Mercer University is seeking an Executive Director of Infrastructure and Security Operations on the Macon, Georgia campus. The role provides strategic leadership for technology infrastructure while maintaining hands-on expertise to support critical situations and staff absences.

The position oversees network, server, and field support teams, partnering with the vCISO to modernize infrastructure and enforce security governance, ensuring continuity and secure operations across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, Cybersecurity, or related IT field required.
• 5+ years of progressive IT infrastructure experience with hands-on to supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with AD management, telephony systems, workstation deployment, and backup support.
• Master's degree, Cisco networking, and/or Microsoft server certs preferred.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required or within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for technology infrastructure and security operations.
• Supervise network, system/server, and field support teams; perform hands-on troubleshooting when needed.
• Drive infrastructure modernization and security governance with the vCISO.
• Ensure operational continuity through oversight and backup technical involvement.
• Coordinate with vendors, budgets, and project management in complex environments.
