IT Infrastructure and Data Center Engineer

The IT Infrastructure and Data Center Engineer is responsible for the successful implementation, maintenance, and support of the IT and data center physical infrastructure that enables campus network services. Leveraging professional experience and technical expertise, the Engineer applies knowledge of industry concepts, practices, and protocols across outside plant and data center facilities. Responsibilities include installation, testing, documentation, repair, and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure and circuits. The Engineer, working under general direction from leadership, architects, and senior engineers, contributes to projects of moderate scope and complexity, applying judgment within defined parameters. The role focuses on maintaining and enhancing campus network services through collaboration with IT specialists, engineers, project managers, and architects to support network expansion initiatives and improve service delivery. The Engineer also supports the strategic vision of network leadership by providing recommendations to enhance network performance, reliability, and overall user experience. The Engineer performs reactive and preventive maintenance of network physical infrastructure, including triage, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of network issues across the Columbus campus, regional campuses, and Ohio State Extension offices. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and occasional after-hours support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $70,100 to $81,960.
The offer for this position will be based on internal equity and the candidate's qualifications.
