Job summary

Wayne Central School District is seeking a Probationary IT Technician for a 12-month position. You will maintain hardware and peripheral equipment, including PCs, Macs, and network gear, and install/configure systems per department needs.

You will design network cable plans, diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and assist staff as a reliable resource. Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration are essential.

• Maintains hardware and peripheral equipment including PCs, Macs, and network gear.
• Installs and configures hardware and software per department requirements.
• Maintains accurate inventory records of equipment.
• Designs network cable plans for installations and modifications.
• Explains revisions in software packages.
• Diagnoses and repairs problems with hardware, software, or network.
• Develops and implements preventative maintenance schedules.
• Cleans and inspects equipment regularly.
• Analyzes potential problems and takes corrective action.
• Serves as a resource and troubleshooter for departmental staff.
• Has strong interpersonal skills and works well with others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hardware and peripheral equipment, including PC's Macs, Apples, network hardware and cabling
• Install and configure hardware/software as per department requirements
• Maintain accurate inventory records on equipment
• Designs network cables plans for network installations and/or modifications
• Explains revisions in software packages
• Diagnoses and repairs problems associated with hardware, software and/or network
• Develops and implements schedules to provide preventative maintenance
• Cleans and inspects equipment
• Analyzes potential problems and takes corrective action
• Serves as a resource and troubleshooter to departmental personnel
• Has strong interpersonal skills and works well with others.
