Job Summary

Provides advanced information technology services and systems support for instructional, research, and administrative computing environments serving faculty, staff, researchers, and students within the College of Engineering and Computing Technology Services (ECTS). Supports the full lifecycle of Windows-based systems and networked services, including planning, deployment, security, disaster recovery, automation, and user support. Serves as a senior technical resource, providing consultation, documentation, training, and collaboration to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable IT operations aligned with university standards.

  • Provides advanced support for Windows-based instructional, research, and administrative computing environments within Engineering and Computing Technology Services (ECTS). Performs planning, deployment, configuration, monitoring, patching, troubleshooting, maintenance, security, repair, and upgrades of supported systems. Maintains endpoint standards and ensures the operational reliability of faculty, staff, researchers, and student-facing systems.
  • Administers and supports Windows-integrated networked services, including file services, identity and authentication dependencies, backup systems, and related infrastructure services to ensure system availability, performance, and data integrity. Participates in network management to ensure that domain controllers and dependent endpoints are effectively connected to necessary local and campus networks.
  • Implements and supports security controls for Windows systems and services, including secure configuration, patch and vulnerability remediation support, and operational practices that reduce risk. Supports audit readiness through documentation, access controls, and operational evidence for systems and services. Exercises discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential system and user information.
  • Performs disaster recovery support for assigned systems and services, including backup administration, recovery testing support, and restoration activities to maintain continuity of instructional, research, and administrative operations.
  • Installs, configures, and supports specialized instructional and laboratory applications and required tools (e.g., compilers and discipline-specific software). Develops and maintains scripts and automation to improve administrative efficiency, consistency of deployments, and service reliability.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, and students to assess instructional and research technology needs. Researches, evaluates, and recommends enhancements to laboratory services and computing environments. Integrates software and system solutions to support evolving instructional and research requirements in collaboration with faculty and technical partners.
  • Develops, documents, and disseminates operational standards, procedures, and best practices for supported systems and software within instructional laboratories and administrative environments. Provides user instruction through documentation, workshops, seminars, and direct support, including advanced troubleshooting of operating system and application-related issues.
  • Trains OPS-funded support staff and provides functional oversight, as assigned, to ensure tasks are completed accurately and align with operational standards.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Collaborates with campus and external IT support teams to share best practices, maintain interoperability, and support integration with university-wide information services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technology field and four (4) years of experience in the field.
