Job summary

Watts & Associates Recruitment is working with a nationally recognized Am Law 100 law firm in Washington, DC, seeking an IP Litigation (It/Engineering) Associate with 2–5 years of IP/patent litigation experience to handle sophisticated disputes.

You will draft motions, manage discovery, work with partners and clients, and have room for increasing responsibility. The role offers a base salary of $235,000–$390,000 plus bonus, and a supportive mentoring environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of substantive IP and patent litigation experience.
• Experience handling high-value patent, technology and trade-secret disputes for sophisticated clients.
• Strong drafting, analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams, meet demanding deadlines and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Strong academic credentials and experience in a sophisticated law-firm environment.
• A technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, software or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Federal Circuit, appellate or relevant clerkship experience is advantageous.
• Admission in the relevant office jurisdiction, or eligibility to waive in promptly, is required.

Responsibilities

• Support complex patent, trade-secret and technology disputes in federal courts and specialist forums.
• Draft substantive motions, briefs, discovery materials and expert-related submissions.
• Manage fact and expert discovery, depositions, technical records and key case workstreams.
• Contribute to trial, hearing and appellate strategy and work closely with clients, experts and experienced litigators.
• Coordinate with attorneys and professionals across related practice areas and offices.
