This position is within FSU’s Department of Information Technology Services (ITS)
Provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day delivery of information technology services supporting FSU Human Resources, the Training Center and Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Coordinates and delivers desktop computing and audio-visual (A/V) support services in alignment with University IT standards and under the direction of ITS leadership and the Office of Human Resources.
Office of Human Resources and ITS-ITAPP to deliver information technology (IT) services in support of the mission of Human Resources (HR). Responsible for the management of IT resources and projects in the department. Provides IT support to include installation, trouble shooting, problem resolution, consulting and training. Utilizes centrally funded/managed IT services, systems and personnel. Responsible for equipment management to include inventory tracking and budget recommendations.
Serves as the first point of contact relating to the distribution and support of information technology resources, providing problem-solving and debugging along with delivering user support. Responsible for troubleshooting and mitigating complex problems related to computer hardware and computer software applications. Assists employees with hardware/software installations, training, security and data integrity and problem resolution. Executes HR’s vulnerability management associated with HR assets and contributes to the cybersecurity efforts, risk assessments, management, and IT continuity of operations.
Collaborates with ITS service providers to manage the department’s resources in the FSU active directory, SharePoint online, email, network, storage and other services provided by ITS. Provides IT consulting and project management. Oversees IT upgrades, defines project scope with senior management, organizes resources to implement the project plan, communicates effectively with staff, and provides documentation and training if necessary upon project completion. Consolidates services and utilizes centrally funded/managed IT services, systems, and personnel. Must be knowledgeable in a broad, constantly evolving assortment of IT policies, procedures, and technologies. Evaluates available and emerging technologies and make recommendations regarding suitability for implementation in the technology environment.
Assists with properly tracking inventory. Monitors supplies and equipment. Sanitizes decommissioned computer equipment for transfer to surplus Responsible for lifecycle replacement and for the management of IT resources to include budgeting/spending for related expenditures, managing space utilization in HR, and managing the technical infrastructure of the HR offices. Responsible for documentation of tasks and procedure-related areas of responsibility.
Develops and maintains partnerships with ITS and throughout the University in order to attain and support departmental IT needs. Assists with HR communications and coordination of HR functions and events as needed. Supports all media equipment and services and is responsible for the continual operation and maintenance of all the media equipment in the facilities including projectors, televisions, cameras and digital displays. Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post-high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
An ideal candidate is a collaborative, service-oriented IT professional who works effectively with others while also being self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, organize information effectively, and meet competing deadlines. They should be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working directly with FSU Human Resources staff and leadership to identify technology needs, resolve issues, and provide responsive, customer-focused IT support.
During the first 60–90 days, the person selected for this position will become familiar with FSU Human Resources, including the Training Center and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), as well as the technology systems, applications, services, and business processes that support HR operations. The position will work closely with FSU Human Resources leadership, staff, and ITS to assess current IT services and support needs, identify priorities and opportunities for improvement, and develop an understanding of the unique technology requirements necessary to support the mission and operations of the Office of Human Resources.
