We are seeking an IT Consultant 1 (ITC1) to advise enterprise clients on using information technology processes, systems, and solutions to address complex business challenges and achieve strategic organizational objectives.

Working within an IT environment, the IT Consultant will analyze business and technology needs, evaluate existing systems and processes, and recommend practical technology solutions. This position serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, providing objective analysis of technology alternatives, implementation risks, costs, benefits, and organizational impacts.

The ideal candidate will have broad exposure to enterprise technologies and the ability to translate business objectives into clear technical requirements and solution recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Requirements Definition

• Work directly with client stakeholders to understand business challenges, objectives, processes, and technology needs.
• Gather, analyze, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
• Translate business requirements into actionable technical requirements and solution recommendations.
• Evaluate opportunities to incorporate modern technologies while following established industry standards and best practices.
• Provide objective guidance regarding available technology alternatives, benefits, limitations, risks, and implementation considerations.
• Present technical recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technology Strategy, Risk & Cost Analysis

• Research technology trends and evaluate their potential application to existing enterprise systems.
• Assess opportunities to upgrade, modernize, integrate, or replace legacy technologies.
• Conduct technical option assessments covering:
  • Implementation risks
  • Cost versus benefit
  • Technical feasibility
  • Operational impact
  • Priorities and dependencies
  • Cross-system impacts
• Collaborate with program and project management teams to identify appropriate technical solutions aligned with organizational goals.
• Provide data-driven analysis to support technology investment and implementation decisions.

Enterprise Architecture & Systems Analysis

• Evaluate legacy and modern enterprise architectures.
• Analyze cloud, on-premises, and hybrid technology environments.
• Identify application, infrastructure, security, and data integration points.
• Review enterprise workflows and dependencies across systems.
• Perform gap analysis and identify opportunities for process or technology improvements.
• Assess the feasibility of proposed technology solutions and modernization initiatives.

Business Process Analysis

• Analyze complex business processes and translate them into actionable technology solutions.
• Document current-state and future-state processes.
• Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop technical recommendations that align business processes with industry practices and organizational objectives.

Strategic Advisory & Solution Framework

The IT Consultant will use a structured approach when evaluating technology solutions and recommendations.

Requirement Analysis: Define functional and non-functional requirements with client stakeholders and map business objectives to appropriate technology capabilities and industry practices.

Industry & Technology Analysis: Evaluate current and emerging technologies and determine their feasibility, benefits, risks, and potential impact on enterprise systems.

Trade-Off & Risk Analysis: Compare technology alternatives and clearly document technical trade-offs, implementation risks, operational impacts, costs, and benefits.

Solution Recommendation: Develop practical and defensible technology recommendations aligned with business objectives, technical constraints, budget considerations, and organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience working within an IT department or IT consulting organization Required
• Broad exposure to enterprise technology areas, including infrastructure, software/applications, security, and data Required
• Experience working with client or business stakeholders to gather and define requirements Required
• Ability to evaluate technology alternatives and provide technical option assessments/recommendations Required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills Required
• Ability to explain technical risks, implementation considerations, and financial/cost impacts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership Required
• Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field Required

Highly Desired Qualifications

• Direct experience working in external management consulting or IT consulting engagements across multidisciplinary client environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting IT security audits, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) programs or frameworks.
• Experience with large-scale public-sector or regulated enterprise systems
• Experience supporting digital transformation, technology modernization, or enterprise system transformation initiatives
